Two techniques have given me endless opportunities during my 15 years of working with clay. Clay slabs, irregular shapes, using the surface as a canvas. The other is coiling, fragility imposes wonderful challenges - will the form crack or warp during firing? Success makes it all worthwhile!
In contrast to hand building, my wheel thrown organic shaped vessels and sculptures are complimented by outdoor pit and barrel firing. Achieved by using natural materials around each piece whilst firing. The individual, earthy tones, reflecting the organic nature of the piece.
The beauty around us - the colour, texture and form is all the inspiration I need!
